Chrisi LambosChrisiís qualifications include a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and a Bachelor of Psychology with Honours, from the University of Adelaide. During her training, Chrisi received numerous prestigious academic awards, including the Australian Psychological Society Prize and the University Medal.
Chrisi has several years of experience in private practice and her areas of expertise and interest include: depression and other mood issues; anxiety and anxiety disorders; attachment issues; stress management; relaxation training; adjustment to life challenges, transitions and change; child and adolescent mood and behaviour concerns; parenting and family issues; adult survivors of abuse; and gambling problems.
Working with depression and mood difficulties is a particular area of interest and strength for Chrisi. She has received training and experience at a specialist depression treatment centre and works skillfully to help people improve their mood in the case of more moderate mood difficulties, and to recover from more serious and debilitating forms of depression.
Another area of expertise for Chrisi is problem gambling and addiction. She has completed Honours and Masters level research theses on the application of cognitive distortions or thinking errors to addictions such as gambling. Chrisi supported the Victorian Government in their evaluation of the then current Problem Gambling Communication and Education Strategy and provided advice regarding the development of future campaigns. She was also contracted by the College of Clinical Psychologists to produce a resource for other psychologists on the best practice prevention and treatment strategies for problem gambling.
With respect to anxiety and anxiety disorders, Chrisi works with panic attacks, generalized anxiety and worry, social anxiety and social phobia, obsessive compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, separation anxiety, performance anxiety, public speaking fears and specific phobias, among others.
Chrisi is highly regarded among her colleagues and clients and is a warm, creative and insightful therapist. In therapy, Chrisi draws on a broad range of evidence-based psychological treatments. Experience with an extensive range of therapeutic modalities allows Chrisi to adopt an integrative approach to therapy that is flexible and relevant. Chrisi tailors her treatments to suit each person and their goals, in order to cultivate a personalized service that resonates with the individual and their unique needs.
Chrisi is fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society.
